Preemptive Peacemaking: Just Peace vs. Just War
September 19th and 20th 2008
What if we lived the vision that the church could turn the world toward peace if every church
lived and taught as Jesus lived and taught? Join us in this exploration of preemptive peacemaking
through a play about the absurdity and justification of war and through conversations about
peacemaking practices.

Update on Funding ECAPC
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Every Church A Peace Church (ECAPC), we extend greetings and appreciation for your continued support of our efforts to bring peace and justice in the world by fulfilling Jesus’ mission of non-violence and love. ECAPC continues to be energized by the belief that the church could turn the world toward peace if every church lived and taught as Jesus lived and taught. Our goal is to assist churches in organizing to make their own peace witness in ways that fit their context, membership, and sense of mission while providing them with skills training for such organizing that is consistent with the ways of Jesus Christ. To this end, two years ago ECAPC launched a three-year expansion and strategic alignment effort designed to increase organizational capacity, enhance programs, and expand strategic alliances.
Thanks to your support, and a generous contribution from the Shumaker Family Foundation, we have been able to achieve several of our organizational goals such as hiring a full-time director, sponsoring regional conferences (Seattle, Boston, Dallas, Detroit, and Minneapolis), producing ECAPC-TV, and developing pastoral education resources. However, our third-year goals which include expanding ECAPC-TV to new markets, targeting youth, sponsoring a National Conference and 2 regional conferences, establishing additional strategic partnerships, and expanding media communications and training materials are yet to be realized.
We are also happy to announce that Gloria Bromell Tinubu, former ECAPC Treasurer has taken a leave of absence from the Board to serve as Interim National Director. Her scholarship and executive management gifts have already positioned us to move in new directions. With the addition of eight new members of the ECAPC Board a dynamic leadership team has developed and is generating new program opportunities for ECAPC congregations. This promises to be an exciting year.
We also have an opportunity to apply for up to $125,000 in additional funds from the Shumaker Family Foundation to complete the above stated goals. However, the Foundation requires $50,000 in matching funds. We are appealing to you to support this fundraising effort by giving a minimum of $50. Contribute online at https://www.ecapc.org/donate.asp .Your tax deductible gift will enable us to continue our efforts to make every church a peace church.
Again, we thank you for your continued support of peacemaking and we look forward to a productive year!
Sincerely,
David C. Jehnsen, Board Chair
Gloria Bromell Tinubu, Interim National Director
